remberg launches AI agents that cut administrative work in maintenance by up to 70%
Built-in AI agents will handle routine tasks within remberg’s maintenance management software, from fault reporting and maintenance planning to documentation, freeing up technical teams for more hands-on work. The official launch takes place on October 13, 2026, at the remberg Maintenance Summit in Munich.
MUNICH, October 13, 2026. Maintenance teams spend roughly a third of their working day on hands-on tasks, with much of the remaining time devoted to coordination and administration. Munich-based software company remberg aims to reverse that balance. The latest generation of its computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) uses AI agents to handle planning, scheduling, and documentation autonomously, submitting their work for human review and approval. Depending on the industry, this could nearly double the time teams spend working directly on equipment, commonly known as “wrench time.”
More time for hands-on maintenance
Maintenance teams deliver the most value when they are repairing, inspecting, and servicing equipment. Yet according to US maintenance services provider Advanced Technology Services, wrench time accounts for just 25 to 35% of working hours on average. Much of the day is spent searching for spare parts and information, completing documentation, planning work, and moving between locations. remberg is targeting the administrative portion of that workload. Based on initial tests with customers and partners, the company estimates that up to 70% of this work could be automated.
Skills shortages and growing demands for cost-efficient planning and traceable maintenance records are also putting pressure on European industrial businesses to make better use of their teams’ time. Traditional maintenance software has digitized and simplified administrative processes, replacing paper forms with digital ones. Teams still have to fill them in themselves.
“An agent takes care of the work nobody enjoys: searching for information, coordinating tasks, and documenting what’s been done. That leaves more time to keep the physical world running. The goal is to take the pressure off skilled people, not replace them,” says David Hahn, CEO and co-founder of remberg.
How AI agents help maintenance teams
The launch focuses on three use cases:
1. AI agents for fault reporting and troubleshooting: Anyone who spots a problem can scan the equipment’s QR code and describe the issue by voice, including in their native language, or upload a photo. Before the report is submitted, an AI agent suggests a possible solution based on the asset’s history and manufacturer documentation. Source references allow users to check the guidance. In some cases, this may allow them to resolve the issue on the spot. If they then submit the report, the fault reporting agent extracts the details from the voice input or image, translates them if needed, and drafts a work order with the relevant asset, priority, and work order type. The maintenance team reviews and approves the draft.
2. AI agents for maintenance planning and scheduling: Maintenance managers upload an operating manual, and remberg’s AI uses it to propose a maintenance plan with intervals and relevant work instructions. A planning agent then helps schedule the work, automatically taking technicians’ qualifications and availability into account. The planning team reviews the suggestions and approves any changes, eliminating the need to copy maintenance requirements over manually.
3. An AI agent for documentation: After completing a job, technicians dictate what they did. The agent enters the information into the appropriate fields, including completed tasks, time spent, and spare parts used. It also captures notes and attaches photos directly to the work order. Technicians review and confirm the entries in the mobile app. The result is a traceable record for future maintenance work and audits, with less manual data entry.

Maintenance teams can also configure their own AI agents for recurring operational tasks by describing, in their own words, the task they want help with. This allows them to tailor the capabilities to their site’s workflows. The same principle applies throughout: “The agents act, but people make the decisions,” says Hahn. No work begins without approval.

One maintenance manager interviewed described the expected benefit this way: “If an AI agent takes care of that, it saves time for four or five people in my department.”
AI at the core of remberg’s software
“We’ve learned a great deal since introducing our first AI features in 2024. Now we’re moving from assistance to AI that takes action. Over the past year, we’ve optimized our entire product for AI agents. This isn’t a feature we’re adding on top; it’s a core part of our software. Without clean data and a secure environment, AI agents can’t deliver on that,” says Hahn.
For industrial companies, rigorous security standards, GDPR compliance, and proven SAP integration remain essential. Maintenance teams work in remberg, while the ERP remains the system of record for finance and management accounting.
Launch and availability: October 13 at the Maintenance Summit in Munich
The new product generation will be unveiled at the inaugural remberg Maintenance Summit in Munich on October 13, 2026. Around 100 selected industry professionals will come together to discuss practical applications of AI and the future of maintenance. The program features speakers from Siemens, SCHUNK, Accenture, and ams OSRAM, alongside a guest talk by two-time Le Mans winner Manuel Reuter.
The AI agents will be available from launch day, with agentic capabilities included in every remberg plan.
